Preferred CFO participated earlier this month in one of Utah’s largest conferences connecting angel investors and entrepreneurs, the Wayne Brown Institute’s Investors Choice Venture Capital Conference. Preferred CFO was a first round sponsor, supporting both the operations of the Institute as well as assisting many of the presenting companies in their preparation for the conference.

The conference, in its 30th year, was held on February 6, 2014 at the Zermatt Resort & Spa in Midway, Utah. For those able to participate, a gala reception held the night before and a ski trip held the day after enabled investors and entrepreneurs to get to know each other on a more personal level.

Jeff Hudson, CEO of Zenafi, keynoted the conference. Amidst stellar speeches and forums, the conference centered on the individual companies and entrepreneurs seeking capital. 20 companies were selected to present, and teams of local mentors were formed to assist them in their preparations. “Days and hours of time set aside to assisting these early-stage companies in their preparation see a clear payoff at this conference. Well-prepared individuals and companies establish much-needed connections at this conference that are critical to the successful venture ecosystem that Utah has been building over the last three decades,” says Jerry Vance, founder of Preferred CFO.

“You have to attend the conference to really comprehend what it’s like to preview 20 polished companies as they present to such an eager group of investors,” observes Dave Sherwin of Preferred CFO.
